Volunteer Opportunities

Course monitor backpackCourse Monitors—Special Incentive

Course monitors must be 21 years of age. Help keep runners on course and safe from vehicle traffic. All course monitors will receive a limited edition embroidered race backpack, pictured, for their efforts.

Assignments vary from 3 hours to 7 hours.

  • Shift 1: 6:00 AM to 9:00 AM
  • Shift 2: 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM
  • Shift 3: 6:00 AM to 1:00 PM

Packet Pick-Up

Assist with distribution of race packets and t-shirts at the Raleigh Running Outfitters Health & Fitness Expo.

  • Friday, October 31st
    • Expo Set-up: 7:00 AM – 11:00 AM 
    • Packet Pick-up - Shift 1:  1:00 – 4:00 PM 
    • Packet Pick-up - Shift 2:  3:00 – 7:00 PM
  • Saturday, November 1st
    • Shift 1: 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM
    • Shift 2: 1:00 - 7:00PM

Start/finish line setup

  • Saturday, November 1st

    • Set up: 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM
    • Set up: 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM
    • Set up: 8:00 PM to 11:00 PM
    • Cone/Barricade placement: 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM

Food tent

  • Sunday, November 2nd
    • 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM
    • 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM

Water stations

  • Sunday, November 2nd
    • 6:00 AM to 8:00 AM
    • 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM
    • 6:00 AM to 1:00 PM

Finish line/medal distribution

  • Sunday, November 2nd
    • 10K finish line  - 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM
    • 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM
    • 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM

Gear Check – assist runners with check-in and retrieval of gear

  • Sunday, November 2nd
    • 6:00 AM  to 10:00 AM
    • 10:00 AM to 1:30 PM

Finish line tear down

  • Sunday, November 2nd
    • Tear down: 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM
    • Cone / barricade retrieval: 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM

High school and college students can fulfill their community service volunteer requirements by assisting with our race.  Valid documentation will be provided to the school or club.

If you know of a school, church, or other group that is interested in volunteer opportunities, please contact us.

We are also looking for groups to provide cheer teams, drum corps, bands, and other support or entertainment along the race course.
