Not planning on running? Volunteering is the next best thing! If you are not running our race, taking time off for recovery, or a friend of the sport, we need your help to keep racers on course, healthy, and excited! Group opportunities available, too! All volunteers receive a unique Raleigh City of Oaks Marathon Volunteer Shirt.
Volunteer Opportunities
Packet Pick-Up
Assist with distribution of race packets and t-shirts at the Raleigh Running Outfitters Health & Fitness Expo.
- Friday, November 4th:
- Shift 1: 1:00 – 4:00 PM
- Shift 2: 3:00 – 7:00 PM
- Saturday, November 5th,
- Shift 1: 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM
- Shift 2: 1:00 - 7:00PM
Course Setup & Start /Finish Line Duties
Help in any of the following areas:
- Start/finish line set-up
- Saturday night / Sunday morning - midnight to 4am
- Sunday - 1pm to 4pm
- Course set-up and tear down
- Saturday - 6pm to 9pm
- Sunday - 10am to 3pm
- Food tent
- Water stations
- Finish line / medal distribution
Bag Check
Assist runners with check-in and retrieval of their equipment bags on race day. Bag check will be located in the Scooterz store across from the Bell Tower.
- Shift 1: 6am to 10am
- Shift 2: 10am to 2pm

High school and college students can fulfill their community service volunteer requirements by assisting with our race. Valid documentation will be provided to the school or club.
If you have a group school, church or other group that is interested in volunteer opportunities please let us know.
We are also interested in groups that may able to provide cheer teams, drum corps, bands and other support or entertainment along our race course.
