Time

The half marathon, marathon, 10K, and marathon relay start simultaneously at 7:00 a.m.

The YMCA Kids' Marathon Mile will start at 7:20 a.m.

: Daylight saving time ends Sunday, November 6th. Be sure to set your clocks back one hour to be on time for the start.

Start & Finish Location

The marathon, half marathon, marathon relay and YMCA Kids' Marathon Mile start and finish on Hillsborough Street at the Historic NC State University Bell Tower.

The N&O Old Reliable 10K will start at the NC State Bell Tower and finish on Clark Street adjacent to Cameron Village.  The post-race runner festival is a five-minute walk from the 10K finish.  

Directions

From RDU airport, follow signs for I-40 East toward Raleigh. Once on I-40 East, drive 5 miles to Wade Avenue/North Raleigh and take the right-hand exit (right two lanes). Remain in the right lane and take the third exit onto South 440 / Hillsborough Street. Take South 440 to exit for Hillsborough / N.C. State University. Go east on Hillsborough to the NC State University Campus.

Timing

The Raleigh City of Oaks Marathon & Marathon Relay , Rex Healthcare Half Marathon, and News & Observer Old Reliable 10K will use the Precision Race Jaguar timing system to accurately time the races and quickly provide day-of-race results. (The YMCA Kids' Marathon Mile will not be timed).  The Precision Race Jaguar timing system utilizes disposable RFID timing chips.  No other timing system device may be worn. YOU MUST WEAR YOUR ASSIGNED RACE NUMBER DURING THE RACE TO RECEIVE YOUR FINISHING TIME AND FOR VISUAL PERSONAL I.D. WHILE ON THE COURSE. All participants will receive their gun time and chip time for the race they complete. For more information about Precision Race, see www.precisionrace.com.

Relay Info

Marathon Relay teams have 4 members. Relay leg distances in order:

  • 6.2 miles (moderately difficult, some hills)
    Finishes at Mile Marker 6.2. After completing the lead off leg, it's a 5-minute walk via Oberlin to the start/finish area.
  • 4.0 miles (flattest leg)
    Exchange #1: Clark Street at Daniels at Cameron Village. No transportation provided from the start/finish to Cameron Village. It's a 5-minute walk via Oberlin to/from the start/finish area. Finishes at MM 10.2.
  • 6.6 miles (moderately difficult hills)
    Exchange #2: Blue Ridge at Water Tower across from Fairgrounds. Transportation provided to/from Pullen Rd near start/finish. Finishes at MM 16.8.
  • 9.4 miles (Umstead Park portion is hilly)
    Exchange #3: Graylyn at Ebenezer Church. Transportation provided to and from Cameron Village. Anchor leg finishes at the the NCSU Bell Tower.

Split times will be reported for each relay leg.

The team captain creates team name, registers and pays for entire team - then can add or change team members later.
